The Lattissima is the next step in Nespresso’s one-touch brewing. It is able to brew espressos as well as lungo coffee in one time of less than a minute, and it accepts the vast selection of capsules.

The machine can also be programmed to create the exact size of drink you require. This is a nice feature for busy households.

Simple to use

This basic, black Nespresso machine is easy to use and maintain. It is simple and minimalist in design, with just one button that controls everything from powering washing to making coffee. Open the lid, insert a capsule in and click to begin making coffee. It heats up quickly and provides a range of drinks including double espresso or 5- 8 or 18-ounce coffees. It also comes with a steaming tool that can give a cafe-like feel to your drinks. We love the compact design and simple interface, however, we discovered that this machine wasn't the same quality of coffee or espresso as some of the more expensive models. It's also not as simple to recycle the capsules as some other machines in our tests. This Nespresso was not the top choice in our test of side-by-side for these reasons.

Quick to brew

Cleaning the Nespresso machine is essential both inside and out. This keeps the machine in good working order and ensure its safety. It also makes the coffee you make taste better. You can clean a Nespresso with a variety cleaners that include vinegar. However, it's recommended to use a descaling solution instead, since vinegar can cause damage to your machine.

To clean your Nespresso machine take out all the capsules. Clean the drip tray and capsule container. Fill the sink with warm water and add a few drops dish soap. Let the drip tray and capsule container soak in the soapy water for some time to remove the gunk and stain. Rinse them off with hot water, and then use a non-abrasive sponge or cloth to scrub off any residues or stains. After scrubbing, rinse the drip tray and the capsule container once more and allow them to dry thoroughly before returning them to the machine.

When your machine is clean then it's time to descale it. Follow the steps in your manual for a specific process. Otherwise, you can create an DIY descaling solution with white vinegar or citric acid. If you're using vinegar be sure to use white vinegar rather than apple or balsamic vinegar, as these are too aggressive for this task.
